Hello!
Welcome to my webpage and let me tell you a little about myself. I've recently transitioned to a new phase of my life after successfully leading a career in human services. I spent several years in Child Protective and Foster Care services, both as a Caseworker and a Supervisor, and then moved on to training/teaching CPS workers and Caseworkers for New York State. My last human services position was as a Quality Assurance Director for an OPWDD agency.Â
Although I've left that world behind, I take with me much of what I've learned in investigation and working with families, their interesting lives, their struggles, their stories, into my work as a mystery writer. My current novel, SPF 1500: You Are Protected, But You're Not Safe, examines several social justice issues as a back-drop of a futuristic murder mystery. Please see SPF 1500 tab for more on this book.
Education-wise, I have my BA from Hartwick College and an MAAL from Empire State college. I read constantly. It's interesting, isn't, how knowledge begets curiosity. I learn something that makes me want to learn something more...hmm!
A few years ago, when I was going through some tough stuff with my family, I signed up for a pottery class in wheel throwing. From that first class, and now four years later, when I throw on the wheel, I am so very focused, that I forget whatever may have been bothering me, or any thoughts about the future, or the past. It is total joyful, meditative time for me. I have a fantastic and very patient teacher, Barbara, and a very good friend. Please see Doyle Pots tab for pictures of my work.
